Environmental Responsibility
We build products that help people from all walks of life and every generation enjoy the
outdoors. We
feel a unique obligation to go above and beyond to help preserve and
protect the environment in every way we can.
This year we will be rolling out a number of new programs that will
help reduce our impact on the environment and help our customers to do
the same. These include corporate initiatives to reduce and offset any
environmental impacts from the manufacturing of our kayaks, and
programs to encourage the responsible use and recycling of them.
Perception is also active with many outdoor groups at the forefront of environmental protection and awareness. Find out more about the following programs:
Paddle-It-Forward
“Paddle It Forward” is a simple concept in which everyone gives a
little, and receives a lot. Donate your used hard-shell kayak or canoe
to any 501(c)(3), outdoor or environmental educational organization and
bring the proof of donation to a participating Perception dealer. With
this proof of donation, you will receive nearly 20-percent off the cost
of a new kayak or canoe. Get the details.
Employee Volunteerism Program
Confluence Watersports (parent company of Perception Kayaks) is
offering its employees paid time off to give back to the paddling
community and the environment. With 500 employees among its seven brands and an internal
sales team spread across the country, there is a substantive
opportunity to make a difference.
“Many members of our team work here because they are passionate
about paddling, which goes hand in hand with the health of rivers,
lakes and oceans where they paddle,” said Sue Rechner, CEO of
Confluence Watersports. “As an organization, we want to enable them to
give back to the community and to the industry.”
Any employee who has worked continuously with Confluence for a
minimum of five years may take an additional five, paid days off per
year to volunteer. The effort must be broadly related to the paddling
industry, from water clean-up days to teaching kids to paddle.
This initiative contributes to two guiding principles for
Confluence: to support the growth of the industry and to promote a
satisfying work environment for its employees.
